Lazy blogger

Okay so I'm a totally horrible blogger. I'd hate me too. But here's an update with some pictures and whatnot!
I will proceed to give you some updates in list form, because lazy is the word of the day:

♥ I have a new (full-time) job as a sushi apprentice;
♥ I moved into a new and nicer apartment;
♥ My grandfather passed away;
♥ I dyed my hair green;
♥ I'm feeling overwhelmed by college with everything else that had happened this semester.

It's "Alpine Green" from La Ryche. It's quite good at staying on, but I believe that's due to how dark the colour is - I can afford to have it washed off a bit and not look totally horrible.
I'm really surprised with how well my hair behaved after bleaching! I thought it would melt off or become totally dry at the ends, but as you can see, even the ends look acceptable! And I'm someone who's been dying their hair regularly for YEARS. It has gone through a lot. The darker part in my natural colour, it's "virgin" hair which has never been dyed - it looks almost the same as the dyed part.

I'm considering getting bangs but my mother says it's a bad option for someone who doesn't wash their hair often because bangs show greasiness much faster than the rest of the hair. Though I guess I can just clip them away on the days when they're being more troublesome. Ideas?

Well, today was a waste of make-up

I tried going to class today and when I got there the room the class was at was empty, and I wasn't sure if I'd have the next class because the schedule was changed the day before and the teacher said we wouldn't have class but then she changed the schedule again and didn't make any remarks on it. FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES AT COLLGE IS HELL.
I didn't sleep last night (I'm trying to get back to a normal schedule) so this is my desperate attempt of doing something remotely relevant today while the sun is still up.

I hate my freshly washed hair and its lack of texture/volume/general sexual powers. But it's so shiny~

My roots are rearing their ugly head, but I only dye my hair every two months because my scalp is sensitive, hair salons are expensive and I'm not really dying my hair to hide my colour or anything. Also, I keep a part of my hair with its natural colour so when the roots come in it doesn't look as harsh since that colour is in other parts of my hair.

I've been thinking about going even lighter or at least more neutral colour. I'm tired of this look though this does seem to be the most flattering natural colour for me, and it's easy to maintain.  DECISIONS DECISIONS.

I also miss having a fringe. I'm thinking about bringing it back for the winter, when there isn't any extreme heat making me sweat and all the fringe head stick to my forehead and getting oily and icky all the time.

The darkest colour is my natural hair colour.

MY HAIR IS SO LONG YAY. I miss short hair.

I've been using L'Occitane's shampoo and conditioner for sensitive scalps. It's great, it really relieves the itchiness I used to get especially at the back of my head because of not so forgiving hair products. And it smells amazing (whenever I wash my hair I spend the rest of the day sniffing it like a crazy person).

I've been successfully washing my hair only once or twice a week, it stopped being as oily as fast and it's much healthier. I don't use any heat on it either so even though it hasn't seen a scissor in many months and it's colour-treated, the ends are looking amazingly healthy.

I have short nails with a natural colour. It's a big change for me but I kind of like it.

They're being grown from scratch since while my mother was on vacation for two weeks (she has a nail salon and it's where I do my nails) I couldn't get any maintenance done and I didn't have the foresight to book something before she went on vacation and between festivals and work my nails were driving me crazy so I cut them short myself. They were too long and I didn't feel like using a nail-file because it takes especially long with gel nails.

I still have gel nails (as you can see, gel/acrylic doesn't have to look horrible and fake, my mother is an awesome pro), they don't break and no nail polish will chip on these. It's also good if you chew your nails, I know a couple of people who stopped doing it after getting gel nails. Oh and I almost forgot: you get less of those yucky skins around your fingers because they don't adhere to the gel. Pretty fingers/nails forever.

I wanted to share my new organization for my most frequently used make-up products (they always ended up staying out of the drawer anyway, at least this way they have a "place"). It's easy and it looks tidy and cute, I think. On the small plate I put my rings and plugs/tunnels so they're always handy and now laying around on my desk for my cats to throw on the ground and kick them under something.
There you see the MUFE HD foundation and powder, the SPF 50 primer, MAC concealer, a paint pot (painterly) and a fluidline (blacktrack). The lipstick is my current favourite: Hang Up. Today I used it only as a stain with some gloss over it. And that's a Sephora powder puff - I love it! It's super soft and puffy.
Please ignore the measuring tape and ikea pencil in the background, I have problems with putting things back in place.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go clean my face and slip into a coma.

Classes seem to have started but I haven't gone to any yet. This is because the first week all College is usually a waste of time (except for the rare anal teacher who wants to start RIGHT AWAY OMG MUST NOT WASTE TIME LEARNLEARNLEARN) and I keep getting e-mails about this or the other class starting at a later date or changes in schedules. That and my bus pass isn't dealt with yet. I tried to get that done at the start of this month but having 600 people in front of you in line and seeing that the counter was going at less than 100 people per hour... I gave up. And since it's a monthly signature (no mater at what time of the month you get it done you always pay the full month) I decided to skip September.

That and the fact that my wisdom tooth has been torturing me are the only news I have for now, nothing even remotely exciting.
My birthday is coming up (27th of September) and I've been feeling pretty negative about it. I used to have great parties as a kid and now nobody cares any more, I'm still getting used to the idea of being a grown up. My plans this year are making a vegan red velvet cake (my favourite) and some berry sangria. I'll try to make a post about it if I remember to.

Oh! I almost forgot! I'm moving this month to an apartment in the same building; I'll have a balcony! And a little closet into which I'm hoping to move my lolita dresses so I can start wearing it more often.

Deepest red

I've been on the look out for the perfect very dark red lipstick and I think I'm satisfied with MAC's Hang Up. Even though it's a cremesheen formula, it can easily be made opaque with a lip pencil. I prefer this to just having to put up with drying lipstick formulas anyway.
I also got a new pocket mirror from Sephora since my old Metamorphose one broke ;^; SO SAD. But this one is classier. I think I'll buy the one with LED lights too, although it's smaller it might come in handy. Plus it's fancier.

Mac's Hang Up with Kiko's 309 lip pencil. I didn't apply the lip pencil to the centre of the lip so that's why the colour looks less intense there.
Also, I've beenfaking freckles. I REGRET NOTHING.
Other recent cosmetic purchases include an eyebrow pencil and brow gel from Make Up Forever, a new lip brush that has a cap so I can carry it around, a lip balm with SPF.
If you're curious, I used a brown eye pencil to draw on the freckles. I just dotted them on randomly, some bigger/darker than the others and then I put powder over them to keep them in place. I still need to practice and adjust to discover what I like more.
I always had second thoughts about drawing on freckles because I thought I'd just look like a kid on Halloween with three big dots on each cheek. I changed my mind when I saw pixiwoo's video on how to give yourself fake freckles. I love the way these add interest to my face when I'm not wearing any relevant eye make-up. I like to do this on days where I feel like looking "natural" but still change something up on my face.
I didn't wear any foundation today either, only MUFE's primer with SPF 50 and concealer on my under-eye area and nose. I didn't go out with the lipstick today, I just tried it on because I got the lip pencil for it today. I ended up loving how it looked with minimal make-up and freckles.

Hurr hurr durr durr~

Vegetarian cooking: Stuffed portobello mushrooms.

Ingredients (for the mushrooms):

Portobello mushrooms (as many as you want to eat + one for the filling);
Red & green peppers (more colours are encouraged);
Soy sausages;
Fresh ginger;
♥ Whichever spices you like. I used garlic, black pepper, gingercumin & garlic.

The olives are for snacking while I cook, I also had a drink which isn't in the picture (do you see my new knife? I LOVE HOW BIG IT IS, I WANT TO CHOP THINGS FOREVER).

First get the black stuff out (it has a lot of water and will make the mushrooms soggy) & the steam. I like to use a small spoon. You may destroy the mushroom on your first attempt, but you'll get better at it with time.

Put some olive-oil, garlic powder, pepper and cumin on a pan, set the mushrooms in and sprinkle some more garlic powder and cumin on them. I didn't use any salt on the mushrooms, the spices are good enough for me.

Now for the filling: just chop everything up and throw it in a pan with some olive oil and add spices. Salt should be the last spice you add because that way you'll use less and be healthier. I used garlic, cumin and pepper first, then when it was almost cooked I added the garlic (which I crushed using a garlic crusher) and some fresh ginger. I also added some soy-cream for saucy deliciousness and some oats for fibre.

When the fillings were cooked enough for my taste (about 15min on medium-high heat), I placed them on/in the mushrooms which I previously cooked in the oven for 10min at 150º.

They went in the oven for 5 more minutes just to melt the parmigiano I added (fresh).

I served the mushrooms with veganized mashed potatoes (just use soy milk and butter instead of regular) and arugula salad.

To make this vegan skip the cheese, I used it because I had it laying around since my boyfriend isn't a vegetarian and already eats mostly vegetarian meals, I put a little cheese on things once in a while.
You can fill them with whatever vegetables you like, pineapple would have been a good idea too, maybe some cherry tomatoes, spinach, whatevs.

Yellow yellow

Neon yellow is my current colour obsession, so I didn't hesitate to buy this nail polish as soon as I saw it:

I believe it was less than 2€. I also popped some glitter on to the nail of my ring finger, thus accidentally creating an über-trendy manicure. I'm all for trends when they meet my tastes, since it makes it ridiculously easy for me to feed my obsessions.

I recently discovered a brand that sells really cheap and decent eye-shadows with amazingly bright colours. It's "Miyo", and here is a swatch of the colours I got on my hand, no eye-shadow base:

The yellow is called "sunrise" and the blue is "aqua". I already created a look using these two plus Sugarpill's Midori and a glitter liner:

(clearly I forgot to put on mascara before I took the pictures, I am retarded).

Here's a bonus picture of me at the beach, with my new favourite bag <3 a="a" bag="bag" better="better" do.="do." haul="haul" i="i" in="in" ll="ll" may="may" monthly="monthly" not="not" of="of" or="or" p="p" pictures="pictures" post="post" the="the">

Na na na na na na na...

Today I went to the cinema to watch the new Batman film, and I felt like doing batman themed make-up.

My first thought was to do something inspired by the joker but I didn't have any suitable green eye-shadow, and the joker isn't even in this movie SO WHATEVER, I just used MAC's fluidline to create a bat-wing effect with my eye-liner, paired with a cat-eye sort of thing.
I was a little worried about not having my yellow eye-shadow, but then I realized the new Batman doesn't even have yellow on his symbol any more so BAM, PROBLEM SOLVED.

As a background colour I used the metallic grey from the NAKED2 palette, it was the first time I touched that colour. I don't really go for grey eye-shadow, I'm just all: "I might as well just use BLACK and get it over with."

Regarding the movie, I really liked it, I fangirl hard whenever I see Christian Bale, and also epic cars. I'm not pleased with cat woman though, I don't feel that that actress really has a sexy or mysterious vibe. She looks more like she should be some sweet girl next door or brainy sidekick than a sexy enemy/friend/whatever/???/WHAT ARE YOU CAT WOMAN.

Here is a detail shot and how my eyes looked when they were open. I went to a couple of stores at the mall before heading to the movies and I got an unexpected compliment from the woman at Oysho ( * 3*) I was so happy about it because it was random and sweet and I thought my make-up was just making me look creepy.

I have been cropping my massive cleavage out of these pictures, and I was going to do the same for this one, but then I decided my blog needs money-shots.

I really like big gothy cat-eye make-up things, I think I'll do variations of those more often, I've been getting boring with my make-up.

You may have noticed my plugs are smaller - it's true! - that's because I irritated my ears a little on purpose, allowed them to heal with no jewellery for about a week, and now I'm wearing 16mm plugs, I'll wait for the ears to adjust and then go back to 18mm. WHY? Because stuff like that builds up ear meat, and fat lobes are good because they look better and healthier.

I got something while I was at the mall that I'm really excited about, but I'm going to wait until my ebay purchases are here so I can make a single blog post with all the stuff I bought because those are cool and technically I bought all these things at the same time, it's just that the stuff from ebay has to take a million years to get here.

Milhões de Festa

Milhões is my favourite festival ever, and this year I got to help out a little. I worked at the bar backstage helping the person who's usually there.

I got to Barcelos on Tuesday to chill for a couple of days before the festival, it was awesome to bond with some of the people.

The festival started on Thursday night, I had a lot of fun and I mostly wandered around being an idiot with friends instead of paying attention to the concerts. The usual.
We had lunch and dinner at a cafeteria most of the time because we didn't have to pay, and I had galaxy nails:

This was taken on day two, I think. At lunch. Clearly the festival life had already started to take a toll on me as I'm starting to look like I was struck by a heard of wilder-beasts.

Stickers on my boots. Say what you want about these but I love my Neck Rock Neptuno's unconditionally, they are my shoe-babies.

My festival "uniform" was mostly short-shorts and loose shirts. And a small backpack because it's practical.

The afternoons were spent sleeping with a visit to the poll (this festival has a pool, you guys) in the late afternoon when the heat and the sun weren't so violent; and the nights were spent mostly backstage, helping out at the bar and running around being an idiot, occasionally sneaking out to look at the "outside people" and the occasional concert.

Monday morning it was all over and we went back to the hotel at about 8am to have breakfast, entering the breakfast room me and my boyfriend, covered in dirt, sporting huge sunglasses and being as far from sober as possible, managed to gather up some food items and ran away to our bedroom for glorious munching.

We were lucky enough to get a ride back home, so, at 10am we were in a car headed home. The quick change of scenery made it even harder to adjust to "normal life" when I returned home, it took me at least a week to get back to my normal pace.

A very zombified Ana enjoys a ride home.

Other than that? I just made the most amazing pumpkin soup (in the Summer? Yes.) I've been asked to do recipe posts, but I hate recipes. I just throw things into a pot in a way that makes sense to me. For this I used 600g of pumpkin, the white part of something we call "alho françês" and I don't know the english name (PLEASE TELL ME), an onion, a bunch of fresh ginger, olive oil, soy butter, salt, pepper, "piri-piri", salt and curry powder. The main thing is using curry and ginger, it gives the soup the most awesome kick.
Also, I had a little extra money, more or less, and I decided to be reckless and spend it on ebay. I was needing a bit of irresponsible spending! I can't wait to make a post about it when my new toys arrive.

Life update

Sorry I haven't been updating this lately, I was planning a "My Month in Pictures" post with pictures I took all month on my phone, but my phone was stolen along with my payment for what I worked on Thursday and Friday, so I don't really feel like doing anything.

Nikkie-inspired make-up & cute way to keep your curls safe.

Last Saturday I wanted to go out after work, but since I work at a bar and I have to run around a lot, having long hair hanging around, dipping into everything and getting in the way is not cool. Since I wanted to rock some epic curls that night, my solution was to keep the curls individually clipped in place with duckbill clips. ObviouslyI couldn't walk out of the house with a head full of clips, so I used a cute bandana to cover them.
This is nothing new of course, ladies used to do this back in the 50's to keep their hair out of the way and the curls in place while working at factories or just going out for groceries (correct me if my history lesson is not accurate, I'm no expert).
Everyone thought it was really cute and when I was done with work all I needed to do was spray my hair, remove the clips and I had a very dressy and fabulous set of curls in my hair.
I love incorporating bandanas into my hair styles, when I'm feeling lazy it's an easy way of creating a cute and original look with no effort.

One of my favourite YouTube make-up gurus is a dutch girl called Nikkie, and I recently went ahead and did a look she put up on her channel because it was amazing and perfect for brown eyes.

That's the original video, and this is what I came up with:

I don't have any of the products used in this video, so I used what I had which was the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette for the blues and Sugar Pill's Midory for the green. Those aren't matte shadows so the look was pretty different, but now I do plan on getting that Sleek palette because this made me realize I really am missing some good coloured matte shadows! All my matte shadows are neutrals.
For the face I used Hoola bronzer and a Too Faced blush (as mentioned here). My lipstick is a nude from Kiko that matches my natural lip-colour. It's number 92, but I got it on sale to try out their lipsticks and I don't think they make it any more.

Low Cost Skin Care

I recently started using pinetar soap to wash my face with every morning and every night, with very positive results!
The weekend is very hard on my skin, I work a lot and go out in smoke-filled environments, my make-up stays on my face for an absurd amount of time and I often indulge in other party-girl behaviours that take a toll on the skin.
My skin has never felt this soft on a Monday without having to use any exfoliants or masks.
Something I really like is that it doesn't dry out my skin, I almost forgot to moisturise after washing my face because it didn't feel dry like it often did after using my tea-tree based face wash I used before.
It's very cheap, especially compared to all the other specific face washes that I like to consider (natural ingredients, organic, not tested on animals, etc) and it will last a long time.

You can purchase it here.

For moisturising and removing my make-up, I like to use good quality organic olive-oil. I'm currently using Azeite Moura. For moisturising one or two small drops are more than enough for my whole face, for removing my make-up I put a bit on my hand and gently rub it on the eye area, this breaks everything down (even the more stubborn waterproof products).
I don't used olive-oil on my skin before make-up because it's obviously too oily, I use a shea butter cream from L'Occitane, which is not low cost at all. But with the money you save on face-wash, make-up remover and night cream, you can afford to splurge on a good face-cream. Right?

Any tips for sensitive and reactive skin? Would you like to know how I make beauty masks at home for my skin type?

Chilling by the river

Porto was hellishly hot today, so Teresa joined me and Bruno for drinks down by the river, at some place that has possibly the worst service ever. They take ages to take your order, ages to get it to you and, in my case, brought me the wrong order. I asked for a sandwich without ham and when he come over he bought me the sandwich with ham in it excusing himself by saying "They put ham in, but it's the same price." to which I replied in an exasperated tone that I don't eat meat. I was so annoyed that I told him to forget about it, he said that he would get what I ordered regardless of my decision of not wanting it any more, and then after a long while it was time to leave, so we got up and paid and told them we didn't want the SANDWICH OF HORROR because we wanted to leave.

I got carried away with my make-up because I was bored waiting for Teresa to show up, her meeting took two hours.
This was the smaller hat I was going to wear, but I decided to got FULL-ON FABULOUS and take the huge hat instead.
The flash makes the picture ugly, I know. SORRY PEEPS.

Here is a picture of the entire outfit in my building's stairwell, in case anyone cares. I blurred out my face because I looked like Michael Jackson in the late years.

This is actually really low-cost, here's a run-down:

Hat/Chapéu: Stradivarius (aprox. 10€)
Blouse/Blusa: Primark (aprox. 15€)
Skirt/Saia: Ebay (aprox. 10€)
Sandals/Sandálias: Zara (aprox. 40€)
Bag/Mala: Primark (aprox. 20€)

The accessories are from several places, like Parfois, H&M or gifts.

Lolita Photoshoot with Tiago Martins

I often wear different shoe and sock combinations while I'm testing out outfits and decide what looks best. In this case I have two outfits planed around this skirt, so I will use both options.
Please excuse the mess in the background, it's what usually happens when I'm messing around with outfit possibilities! Also, my boyfriend likes to keep bottles around instead of putting them back in the kitchen, so bear with our flaws in organization.
Which socks do you like best?

I experimented with three different hair styles, two of which are new to me in lolita, one is something I've already worn A LOT. My favourite was the pony tail, I think it goes with the skirt's feel nicely, and it's not as common in lolita. I myself never wore a pony-tail with lolita.
On the day of the shoot I actually fell asleep and was two hours late! I don't even remember hearing the alarm; I worked Friday 8h and another 8h on Saturday until 4am (both days) and the shoot was on Sunday at 3pm. I was ill as well, so it's no surprise that waking up was a problem.
No dia da sessão adormeci e atrasei-me duas horas!

Here is one of the pictures from the shoot!
Aqui fica uma das fotos da sessão!

What do you think? There are many more of course, but I only got this one so far. I really love the colours in this.

About the blog's current format. Does the two-language format bother you? Should I do it in a different way?

Personal life & cravings.

It's suddenly hot again (DA FUK, WEATHER?) and I went to my parent's house today to dig through some Summer clothing and stuff to exercise with. I want to start running every other day. I need a running buddy and I need to chose a good time for running.

I have a lolita photoshoot this Sunday (yay!) and I'm using something I hadn't worn yet, which is exciting. I hope work on Friday and Saturday doesn't wear me out too much.
I was asked to work again this weekend, which is a good sign! I hope to continue working there during the Summer, it's quite pleasant.

I really want neon pumps and flat sandals.

I like these two from Aldo, I have the ones on the left in leopard print and they are VERY comfortable. I wore this all night during New Year's Eve, I was stading, walking on irregular floors and dancing for hours and I didn't want to kill myself  because the pressure is very well distributed and they have a nice soft support for the areas where you support most of the weight. As for the sandals, I like the bling and the fact they they have support between the fingers, I don't like sandals without those because sometimes while walking they move out of place uncomfortable when they are this flat and shapeless on the sole.

This clutch (also from Aldo - they seem to have the best selection of neon shoes and accessories) is also something I certainly wouldn't mind owning.
Yellow/green neons are my favourites, as well as corals.
Zara has some amazing shoe picks as well, but so far all the shoes I try there are uncomfortable because there is no padding on the inside and it feels like my bones are directly on the floor. Plus a lot of the are really tight around the toe area, and I don't have wide feet at all that would justify that. It's really a shame because I already had so pass on several pairs I really wanted, like the rose-gold strappy sandals I tried on today and that felt like tourniquets around my toes. It was totally unbearable, and the neon sandals I saw on their website that I also liked, turned out to be really washed out in person. So I guess with Zara I'll stick to the clothes and maybe flat sandals (as I recall, I saw some I liked).

Any tips on other stores where I can find more neon goodies are very welcome!

Get Trash has some pretty juicy items I'm considering purchasing, and that inspired me to alter some of my own clothing (which will never happen because I am the queen of procrastination).

This bondage-style belt from ASOS really caught my eye too (I have the most random taste ever, if you couldn't tell by now). I do wear lighter shades in the Summer and am a sucker for beige and cream anything. Let's go with that option so I can sound a little more reasonable.
They have it in more colours, but this was the one I liked best. Or perhaps this was merely the model picture I liked best, I'm a visual person like that and easily seduced by a good example picture. I will also buy any piece of over-priced candy if it has Hello Kitty stamped on the package.
I'm very susceptible to gimmicks, I know five year olds with better judgement than me, seriously.

Topshop has some cute accessories:

I trying to wear more accessories, I usually don't because I never really had that habbit.

Aaaand I'll go ahead and stop now, I want too many things! Haha
